The Department of Civil Law and Сivil Procedure Law was established on the basis of two departments of Law Faculty: department of civil law and departments of private international law, justice and advocacy. The Department of Civil Law and Сivil Procedure Law is a structural unit of the Uzhhorod National University Law Faculty.

The foundation of the department was predetermined by necessity to form and prepare qualified specialists able to use acquired theoretical and practical knowledge in further professional activity in the following directions: civil law, intellectual property law, civil process, family law, inheritance law, labor law, ecological law and notary.

The main task of the teaching stuff of department is to direct efforts to make students obtain high level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. For that purpose advanced practical orientation of curricula was made, the number of academic hours for undergraduate practice of students had been increased, the possibility of interactive studies had been provided, multimedia devices are being used during lectures, students obtain practical skills through participation in work of law clinics, practical lessons include visiting trials.

The department has got high stuff potential which provides appropriate level of educational, methodological and scientific work. There are 4 DJurSc, 14 candidates of law (PHD), 4 senior lecturers and 1 assistants in the department stuff.

According to decree of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated July 3, 2014 under No. 7903 in Uzhhorod National University postgraduate studies were created on a base of department of international private law, justice and advocacy. The studies being held here in specialty 12.00.03 – “Civil law and civil process; family law; international private law”.

Main directions of work on department:

• educational and methodological work;
• scientific investigation;
• organizationally methodical work
• upbringing work with students
• public work.

 The main aim of educational activity under department is preperation of highly qualified law specialist.

The most important task of the department is to improve educational process, improve quality of teaching civil law disciplines and to provide them with educational and methodological materials.

Scientific work of the department is being held in field of legal regulation of civil law, civil process, family, ecological, corporative, labor, land relations and other relevant issues of private law.

The stuff of the department constantly takes part in international, state educational conferences. Scientific seminars are being held by department where sore points of private law are being discussed.

The teaching stuff of the department constantly improves it’s qualification.

There is scientific workshop of civil, labor law and process on department, created with an aim to prepare students to future work in a field of jurisprudence. During meeting scientific reports about relevant problems of civil, labor law and other fields of private law are discussed.
