Department of Business-administration, Marketing and Management
This department was established in 2007 as the chair of international business and world policy in accordance with the initiative of the rector, professor, doctor of technical sciences F.G. Vashchuk.
According to the decision of the Scientific Council of the State higher educational institution Uzhgorod National University, in 2013 this chair received its current name – "international business, logistics and management". I.I. Cherleniak, doctor of state management sciences, professor is the head of the department.
The department trains specialists in international business and management according to the educational and professional bachelor's, specialist's and master's programs. Graduates receive diploma on the following specialties:
- "Economist, specialist on international relations, translator/interpreter".
- "Economist-logistician".
Requirements of time and development of province as the near-frontier region having active business relations with European neighbors face us with the goal to train highly qualified specialists-logisticians in the field of international business and management for economical, commercial, organizational, managerial, educational and research activity.
Direction of training "International business", professional field "Economist, specialist on international relations, translator/interpreter" provides a possibility of professional managerial activity of specialists capable of making and fulfilling the managerial decisions in the field of international business activity using deep knowledge and practical skills.
Direction of training "Management", professional field "Economist-logistician" ensures optimal combination of economic, law and management education. It provides a possibility of professional managerial activity of specialists allowing one to model market situations and develop strategies of entering the external markets, make and fulfill the managerial decisions in the field of the foreign economic activity related to planning, organizing and fulfilling the foreign economic operations.
Specialties "International business" and "Management" provide possibility of professional managerial activity of specialists capable of making and fulfilling the managerial decisions in the field of foreign economic activity related to planning, organizing and fulfilling the foreign economic operations, modeling the market situations and developing the strategies of entering the external markets using deep knowledge and practical skills.
Students of the department receive theoretical knowledge on the principles of international business operations, practical skills of organizing the entrepreneurship. During their training students study, analyze and predict modern tendencies and conditions of international business environment that provide them possibility to orient themselves in the dynamical economic life.
Special attention is being drawn to the language training of students and their computer literacy. More than 2,000 academic hours are scheduled for studying foreign languages. Practical training on computer techniques is also provided.
After graduating, the specialists may occupy the following prestigious positions according to the educational profile at the state management authorities, domestic companies with large-scale foreign economic activity, companies with foreign investments, affiliates of both industrial and trade foreign corporations, Ukrainian and foreign banks, investment funds and companies (including foreign ones), leading audit companies:
- head of the foreign economic activity department;
- foreign economic activity manager;
- diplomatic service specialist;
- chief economist;
- economist;
- research associate;
- international marketing specialist;
- manager-economist;
- director (general director, principal, other chief) of the company/enterprise;
- director of small firm (insurance, audit, advertising etc.);
- head of department (local and central state authorities);
- lecturer at the higher school/university;
- specialist in the banking sphere etc.
Department staff permanently introduces novel technologies of training into educational process, namely, new textbooks, computer testing, business games, round tables, cases, remote courses and so on.
In accordance with new training plans, the department ensures teaching a complex of normative and facultative disciplines as well as those of professional and practical training. More than 48 professionally oriented disciplines are being taught at the chair. The following author disciplines have been elaborated by the lecturers:
- Philosophy of business;
- Quality management in international business;
- Business communications;
- Strategic partnership in international business;
- Competition in international business;
- Business of international economic organizations;
- International business and global corporations;
- Risk management in international business;
- Settlements and payments in international business;
- Practical training on the principles of international business;
- Investment design in international business;
- International insurance and bank business.
As of today the chair staff includes 18 persons, 4 of them being professors, 6 candidates of economic sciences, assistant professors, 4 lecturers, 1 assistant and 2 laboratory assistants.
The department possesses a relevant material and technical base, i.e. new-generation computers, equipment for visual support of lectures and practical classes ensuring contemporary level of training process and organization of student's scientific research work. The bibliographic stock of the chair is being permanently updated.
The department staff apply actively progressive methods of training using innovative technologies and techniques in view of the last tendencies in education and business and favoring formation in students modern skills of operative utilization of novel technologies for immediate processing and analyzing huge amounts of information. Access to Internet via the local computer network favors intensification and increase of training process efficiency.
High degree of education, pedagogic mastery, practical experience of the chair staff provide possibility to train specialists on the level that corresponds to the world standards and ensures their competitiveness on the labor market, activates creative, professional and social activity for enriching the intellectual potential of the nation.
