UzhNU starts cooperation with South Korean colleagues

This month, the Rector of Uzhhorod National University, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka made a working trip to South Korea. During the programme full of business meetings, he visited the leading universities and medical institutions in the capital of the country - Seoul, in particular Handong Global University, Soongsil University, Samsung Medical Centre and Severance clinics.

Rector V. Smolanka signed an agreement on multifaceted cooperation with the head of Soongsil University, and agreed with the management of Samsung Medical Center and Severance clinics to accept Ukrainian doctors for free internships.

During the meetings and negotiations, a mutual agreement was also reached to organise student exchanges. The South Korean universities visited by V. Smolanka expressed their readiness to accept Ukrainian students for free education. The issue of which specialities will be included in the exchange list will be specified in the course of further negotiations.

It was agreed with Handong Global University that they are ready to accept our professors who are fluent in English for a semester or more to give lectures, with appropriate payment for the work done.

The rector of UzhNU, who has long been accustomed to a busy schedule, noted that he was surprised by the efficiency and activity of his South Korean colleagues. ‘My working day during this business trip for all three days started at 6.00 a.m. when we left the hotel and lasted until 22.00 p.m. Over the decades of my scientific and practical activity and rectorate, I have had the opportunity to get acquainted with the most advanced achievements of the medical industry in different parts of the world. What I saw this time is also impressive! We have a great opportunity to study and apply the modern achievements of world medicine and training of the new generation of medical workers. I would like to emphasise that our South Korean colleagues sincerely support Ukraine's current struggle against the Moscow aggressor and are ready to help us,’ Volodymyr Smolanka said.

The colleagues gratefully accepted UzhNU's invitation to participate in this year's celebration of the 80th anniversary of the university's founding, so that their visit would be a continuation of practical work to concretise our cooperation.
