UzhNU raised over 200 thousand hryvnias for the Armed Forces at the charity concert
The Transcarpathian Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre named after the brothers Yuriy-Augustine and Yevhen Sherehiy hosted a charity concert of UzhNU on the occasion of its 79th anniversary. The funds raised will be used to manufacture drones of their own design. The students organised the charity event with all seriousness, and their efforts turned into an unforgettable show on stage.
At the event, UzhNU students lit up the stage with dancing and touched the soul with their charming voices. The concert also featured a raffle for an apple watch series 9, which required a donation of UAH 200 to participate. That evening, Ivan Ivancho, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, was the lucky one.
Thanks to the joint efforts, a record amount of UAH 211,594 was raised throughout the charity concert.
The event was opened by the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka: ‘Dear friends, I congratulate everyone on this charity evening, which is held on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Uzhhorod National University. I would like to thank you for organising it, as it was almost entirely created by students, which is extremely important, there was no ‘parental hand’ of the rectorate or deans or teachers, so for this, dear young people, thank you very much! We spend this evening thinking about our defenders, so the primary goal is charity. Our university helps the defenders in various ways: we make drones and means of protection against enemy analogues, each of us donates, I am sure of it, and you also study hard. The people who are now on the front line are thinking about you - about the younger generation for whose sake they are once again fighting for Ukraine's independence and freedom.’
The next stage is to celebrate the successes of Uzhhorod students. In particular, 3rd year student of the Institute of Chemistry and Ecology Evheniya-Polina Mishkovska received a diploma for her contribution to the development of public life, 2nd year student of the Faculty of Medicine Valeria Motsa, 2nd year student of the Faculty of Medicine Andriy Hirchak and 2nd year student of the Faculty of International Economic Relations Angelina Svyryda, 5th year student of the Faculty of Medicine Yuriy Balazs for achievements in scientific work.

I thank each of you for your choice to live, study and work in Ukraine, supporting democratic values. Special thanks to the students for their active and patriotic stance, as well as to the border guards who are simultaneously studying and defending the country. Guys, I bow to you. I wish our teachers and students, who are defending our homeland, to return home alive and healthy. May your student years be the best, and may your knowledge multiply in a peaceful and prosperous Ukraine.’
