Representatives of the University of Innsbruck Visit Uzhhorod National University to Discuss Erasmus+ Cooperation
Uzhhorod National University welcomed representatives of the University of Innsbruck (Austria), Dr. Jürgen Fuchsbauer, Dean of the Faculty of Language, Literature and Culture, and Dr. Nataliia Sorokina, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences. The delegation met with Professor Myroslava Lendel, Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching at Uzhhorod National University, and Viktoriya Synyo, Associate Professor of the Department of German Philology.
The meeting focused on expanding academic cooperation between Uzhhorod National University and the University of Innsbruck, with particular emphasis on opportunities offered through the Erasmus+ programme. The participants discussed prospects for student and staff mobility, academic exchanges, job shadowing opportunities, and the development of new joint initiatives that would strengthen collaboration between the two universities.
Special attention was given to deepening cooperation with the University of Innsbruck, building on the long-standing partnership between the Austrian federal state of Tyrol and Ukraine's Zakarpattia Region. As official partner ("brother") regions, Tyrol and Zakarpattia share many common characteristics, including their mountainous landscapes, multilingual communities, and multicultural traditions. These shared features provide an excellent foundation for academic collaboration, joint research, and intercultural exchange.
The participants emphasized the importance of expanding institutional partnerships that foster innovation, internationalization, and the exchange of best practices in higher education. They also explored opportunities for developing collaborative Erasmus+ projects that would create new educational and professional development opportunities for both students and academic staff.
The visit marked another important step in strengthening international cooperation between Uzhhorod National University and the University of Innsbruck and reaffirmed both institutions' commitment to developing sustainable academic partnerships within the European Higher Education Area.
