Movement, games, sports and creativity: UzhNU hosts training for teachers of Zakarpattia schools
On January 30-31, Uzhhorod National University hosted a training for teachers on the Movement, Games, Sports and Creativity methodology. The training was initiated by the UzhNU Volunteer Center with the assistance of the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of the Zakarpatska Regional State Administration as part of a project from the Swiss organization Terre des hommes.
The training was attended by teachers from five schools in Perechyn, Velykyi Bereznyi and Svaliava districts. The opening ceremony was attended by the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of UzhNU Oleksandr Rohach and the Director of the Department of Education, Youth and Sports Mariana Marusynets.

"We actually have a lot of challenges, we are adapting, rethinking approaches to education. When I was in educational institutions in America and Europe, I had the opportunity to compare educational programs and the level of children's education. I can say that our children have better knowledge in many aspects than their peers abroad. But it's also worth noting that there is experience that we should adopt, particularly in the area of social and psychological training of children. In America and European countries, considerable attention is focused on training children in this area. I am sure that the trainings from the UzhNU Volunteer Center will help you to improve your skills in this area and pass them on to children. I also want to sincerely thank the Department of Education, Youth and Sports of the Zakarpatska Regional State Administration for their assistance, as well as the UzhNU Volunteer Center, thanks to which we are able to implement this project and attract grant funds. They are really great," Oleksandr Rohach emphasized at the opening of the training.

The trainers in the project were representatives of the UzhNU Volunteer Center Erika Stanko and Olena Zinchenko. The project training was conducted using the movement-games-sports methodology. It means that games are used as a tool for developing psychosocial, intellectual, and physical skills

Coach Olena Zinchenko says: "Today, we are conducting training with teachers in a playful way, who will then help and teach children and schoolchildren. It is important that we do not evaluate anyone using this methodology, the purpose of each game is the game itself. There are no winners, no one is better or worse. Also, these games are designed for ages 6 to 17. At the end of our training, teachers will receive methodological recommendations, which include 20 games, which describe what age each game is designed for and what skill it is intended to develop in children. We will also send additional materials in an electronic version, which teachers can also use."

Kristina Tovt, the head of the UzhNU Volunteer Center, says: "The project is new for us, we have never done anything like this before, it has become a kind of challenge. But it's worth noting that its implementation is very interesting, we have nice partners, coordinators, and rich programs. The Transcarpathian RMA helped us a lot in the implementation, they selected schools that would be comfortable cooperating with us and greatly simplified our task in communication."

The training project was initiated by the Swiss organization Terre des hommes, which has been actively working in Ukraine since 2015, particularly in Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Due to the fact that after the start of the full-scale invasion, a lot of internally displaced persons moved to the territory of Zakarpattia, the scope of activities was expanded to the Zakarpattia region.
