Uzhhorod National University wins the Interreg Cooperation Day 2024 cleaning competition

Recently, as part of the UzhNU Environmental Awareness Week and World Cleanup Day, an eco-talk was held in the UzhNU Botanical Garden. The event was organised by the UzhNU Development Innovation Centre together with the NGO ‘Green Varosh’. About 50 students and employees of various departments of the university expressed a desire to make our city cleaner. Based on the results of the eco-clean-up and on the initiative of the International Relations Department, UzhNU took part in the Interreg Cooperation Day 2024 cleaning competition, where it became one of the two winning teams!

Reporters of Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) at the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg NEXT Programme Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine offered UzhNU, as one of the winners, to create a promotional video that would demonstrate their commitment to environmental awareness. Such experience is significant for UzhNU in the context of compliance with the policy of sustainability and sustainable development.

In addition, representatives of the Interreg NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme will hold a seminar at UzhNU. This event will aim to facilitate discussion, knowledge sharing and building future cooperation. The participants of the seminar will also be invited to fill in a survey as part of the ‘Public Consultation on the Future of Interreg after 2027’. The programme's approach is Europe- and youth-centred and actively engages students, offering them valuable insights and opportunities for cooperation.
