The problem of corruption in Ukraine was discussed at UzhNU

On February 11, 2016 a public presentation and discussion on "Corruption in Ukraine" took place in the small meeting room of the Academic Council of UzhNU. The participants of the meeting discussed the results of a sociological research on corruption in our country.

The event was initiated by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) together with the international organization "Pact" in Ukraine and Civil Network "OPORA".

Viktoria Zakhozha, the deputy director of KIIS, presented comparative statistical data analysis 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2015 representing the situation in Ukraine and the Transcarpathian region in particular. The recipients answered the questions about their personal perception of corruption, their real experience, the effectiveness of the measures taken to prevent and fight corruption and the willingness to fight this phenomenon. The obtained data formed the basis of the statistics presented.

It appears that the level of trust in Ukrainian authorities reduced. Most of all people trust local authorities and the President (according to the data as of August-September 2015). The population is waiting for the initiatives aimed at fighting corruption from the President, the Parliament, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers as a whole.
