The auditorium of Ukrainian-Slovak friendship was opened at the Faculty of International Economic Relations
On March 10, 2023, the Ukrainian-Slovak friendship office was officially opened at the Faculty of International Economic Relations at Uzhhorod National University. Consul of the Slovak Republic in Uzhhorod Roman Zhatko, the rector of Uzhhorod University Volodymyr Smolanka, and the dean of the Faculty of International Relations Mykola Palinchak were present at the event and cut the red ribbon.
"It is an important day for the Faculty of International Economic Relations today. We are opening the office of Ukrainian-Slovak friendship. Its reconstruction became possible due to a joint Ukrainian-Slovak project, which we submitted together with the Consulate of the Slovak Republic in Uzhhorod. Owing to this project, we have purchased a modern interactive whiteboard and created an open library at the faculty, which are at the service of our students. Lectures, conferences, and business games will take place in this auditorium," says the dean of the faculty Mykola Palinchak.
The rector of the university Volodymyr Smolanka noted that he was always pleased to come to the Faculty of International Economic Relations, because those visits were accompanied by positive emotions. "We are experiencing another positive emotion today due to the opening of the office of Ukrainian-Slovak friendship. We always keep thinking about improving the infrastructure of the unit, investing money. The office does not only improve the conditions for the educational process, but is more meaningful. When we enter this auditorium, we always remember our good friend Slovakia, which clearly took a pro-Ukrainian position during the Russian aggression. We know how much the Slovak people and the Slovak government, in particular, are helping Ukraine in this difficult period, and we appreciate it very much," the rector noted. He also expressed his gratitude to the Consulate of the Slovak Republic and the staff of the faculty and wished that this auditorium would contribute to the high quality education of young people.
Consul of the Slovak Republic in Uzhhorod, Roman Zhatko, addressed the audience in Slovak: "First of all, I want to thank Mr. Dean and Mr. Rector for helping to organize the reconstruction of this auditorium. We closely cooperate with your university, in particular with the Faculty of International Economic Relations, and are glad to have helped you with the reconstruction of the premises that will assist the faculty. This is not our last project. We aim to invest where it will bring results."
The distinguished guest wished the students successful studies and noted that the most important thing was that the war in Ukraine ended and young people could study without unnecessary worries.
