Students of UzhNU took part in the II International Student-Graduate Scientific and Practical Conference “Global Challenges: Society, State, Person”
On November 15, 2024, a delegation of students from Uzhhorod National University from the scientific societies of their faculties took part in the II International Student and Postgraduate Scientific and Practical Conference “Global Challenges: Society, State, Person”. The event was held in a mixed format at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv under the auspices of the Scientific Society of Students and Postgraduates of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
The conference began with the opening ceremony. Anastasiia Saliuk, Chairperson of the Scientific Society of Students and Postgraduates of LNU, and Roman Hladyshevskyi, Bachelor of Philology and Vice-Rector for Research of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, welcomed the participants. They sincerely wished the conference participants successful work, fruitful discussions, and scientific achievements in their current and future endeavors.
After the official opening, a plenary session was held to hear presentations on topical issues. In particular, a presentation was made on the 2024 US presidential election. It analyzed Donald Trump's victory as a reflection of public sentiment in the United States and discussed the global challenges associated with this event. Another report from the representative of Latvia, Leo Jansons, was devoted to the concept of positive energy in the design of climate and environmental policies of governments and economies, which aroused great interest among the audience.
The delegation of UzhNU actively participated in the breakout sessions. The topics presented by the students received positive feedback for their relevance and novelty.
Members of the Student Scientific Society “Clio” of the Faculty of History and International Relations of UzhNU spoke at the section “Humanities”:
Ivanna Babynets, the head of the SSS “Clio”, and Maksym Narovskyi, an activist member of the SSS, presented their research remotely. Ivanna shared the results of an analysis of the situation in the post-Soviet space after the collapse of the USSR, and Maksym examined the spread of reformist ideas among the Orthodox. Their presentations provoked a lively discussion among the audience.
Representatives of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Economics spoke jointly at the Social Sciences section. Political science student Anton Radko presented a comparative analysis of the processes of disintegration of Ukraine and the Baltic states from the USSR, which became one of the most prominent topics of the meeting.
Sociology student Yelyzaveta Mayurenko presented a study that reveals the influence of sociology on the formation of an international outlook.
Alina Yamkova, Chair of the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Economics at UzhNU, made a significant contribution to the breakout sessions by presenting a study on the development of virtual capital. In her report, she revealed modern innovative solutions aimed at improving the security of digital money.
At the fourth section of the conference, dedicated to Technical and Natural Sciences, Mykola Bilanchuk, Chairman of the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Physics, presented the results of a large-scale study of the dimensional effects of hardness in (Cu1-XAgX)7GeSe5I superionic materials. His work attracted considerable attention and received positive feedback from colleagues in the technical and natural sciences.
After the end of the sectional sessions, all the participants of the conference gathered in the Mirror Hall of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. This gathering featured a lively discussion of the presentations, exchange of impressions, and establishment of scientific contacts between representatives of different universities. Anastasia Saliuk, the Head of the Scientific Society of Students and Postgraduates of LNU, solemnly presented the certificates to the participants. At the end of the meeting, the prospects for future cooperation between higher education institutions were discussed.
On November 16, the delegates had an informal meeting with representatives of the Scientific Society of Students and Postgraduates of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The Head of the STSU and her deputies organized a tour of Lviv, during which the participants had the opportunity to visit the historic Scientific Library of the University. This was a great opportunity to meet, share experiences, and learn more about the cultural heritage of Lviv.
It is also worth noting that on November 16, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of UzhNU Yurii Ostapets joined the students' scientific progress with a presentation on “Political and party dynamics in the European Union in the context of the European Parliament elections on June 6-9, 2024” at the international scientific conference of the Department of Political Science “Party and election processes and political and institutional relations in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the crisis of world development: Ukrainian, European and global dimensions”. The scientific forum was organized as the ninth in a series of international scientific conferences “Political Parties and Elections: Ukrainian and World Practices” (in memory of Yuriy Shveda) by the Department of Political Science of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the Center for Political Studies in Lviv.
