Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India delivered a lecture to students of UzhNU

On October 18, on the day of the 72nd anniversary of the foundation of Uzhhorod National University, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Ukraine Manoj Kumar Bharti delivered a lecture to students of the Faculty of Medicine #2 and the Faculty of History and International Relations. He also attended the solemn meeting of the Academic Council of UzhNU.

While introducing Mr.Manoj Bharti to the audience, the Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Ihor Studenyak noted that the university was fruitfully cooperating with India in the field of education and almost 900 foreign students were studying at UzhNU, most of whom were citizens of that country. Addressing foreign students, Ihor Studenyak said: "The role of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador is similar to yours, because he is the ambassador of your country at the official, state level, and you are ambassadors among students. We are pleased that you bring all the wonderful things and traditions from your cultures to Ukraine and particularly to Uzhhorod and Transcarpathia. Thus, there is  cultural exchange between our peoples, which, in fact, is a very important factor for the understanding between the people of different nations."

At the beginning of his lecture, Mr. Manoj Bharti said: "I am happy to be here in Uzhhorod, at your university. This is my first visit, but I am sure that it is the beginning of an important cooperation." The lecture of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary was entitled "India and the world. Only the truth triumphs". He spoke about the history of India, its scientific and philosophical heritage for all mankind, as well as the prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and India. "My country is an example of peaceful coexistence of different peoples with different mentality and customs. I want you to understand that the difference between the states of India such as Tamil Nadu and, for example, Punjab is greater than between such European countries as France, Germany, Italy or Spain, but it hasn’t become an obstacle to our peaceful and civilized coexistence for centuries. India is more than just a country. It is rather a continent.

There are 22 official languages in India but, in fact, people speak 325 languages and 1652 dialects. The population of India is 1 billion 220 million people, and each year it increases by 22 million, which can be compared to the population of Australia! India is now one of the fastest growing economies in the world, we need skilled personnel, and our higher educational institutions, although there are a lot of them, cannot train enough specialists to satisfy our needs. Therefore, we are very grateful to Ukraine and your university in particular for giving decent education to our citizens!"- said the ambassador.

Mr. Manoj Bharti also spoke about the importance of Indian philosophy for scientific and technological development, and noted that he was going to publish the book in which he studied the importance of traditional Indian philosophy for new scientific advances. "You know, I am an electrical engineer by education, but for me it was a real discovery that many things that underlie the natural sciences are based on traditional Indian philosophy."

Manoj Bharti's lecture was dynamic and made a strong impression on the audience.
