Despite the pandemic, Uzhhorod National University actively developed its international activities in 2020
One of the main directions of formation of modern educational policy of the European countries is the internationalization and modernization of higher education. At the meeting of Uzhhorod National University Staff Conference, the Rector of UzhNU, Prof. Volodymyr Smolanka, reported that by the end of 2020 Uzhhorod National University had established cooperative relations with more than a hundred (125) foreign partners. In 2020, 7 new international bilateral agreements, 7 agreements on the implementation of international projects and 8 agreements to support Erasmus + academic mobility were concluded.
In 2020, UzhNU established active cooperative reltions with such international partners as Sukhum State University (Georgia), University of Business and Technology (Georgia), University of Hradec Králové (Czech Republic), Artois University (France), Robert Schumann Higher School (Belgium), University of Sri Venkateswara (India), American University of Sicily (Italy), Silesian University of Technology (Poland), Kupele Visne Ruzbachi Sanatorium (Slovak Republic), Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, and the Research Center of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences (Slovenia).
The membership of Uzhhorod National University in international associations such as Magna Charta Universitatum, the Danube Rectors’ Conference, the European University Association, and the International Consortium of Universities is Important for its further integration into the European scientific environment.
In 2020, Uzhhorod National University continued to work within the framework of the Erasmus+ academic mobility programme. Despite the resrictions due the Covid-19 pandemic, some students, researchers and teachers of Uzhhorod National University managed to join Erasmus+ academic mobility programme, which provides students and teachers with EU scholarships to cover their tuition fees and accommodation. In particular, in the second semester of the 2019/2020 academic year, nine students of UzhNU took part in Erasmus+ academic mobility programme, including students of economics, law, philology and students of the Faculty of History and International Relations.
Uzhhorod National University has concluded agreements on joint training of students for obtaining Master’s degree double diplomas with Vytautas Magnus University, Kaunas (Lithuania), Pomeranian Academy in Slupsk (Poland), University of Kosice (Slovakia), and Higher School of Economics and Public Management in Bratislava (Slovakia).
