Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ihor Harbaruk visited Uzhhorod National University

On Friday, April 16, 2021, the Rector of Uzhhorod National University Volodymyr Smolanka had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Ihor Harbaruk. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Ihor Shynkaryuk, Deputy of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, the Chairperson of the Commission on Education, Science, Culture, Spiritual Values, Youth Policy, Physical Culture and Sports, National Minorities and Information Policy Natalia Shetelya and Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Veronika Mayurnyk.

 During the meeting, they talked about the state and prospects of higher education in Ukraine. Volodymyr Smolanka spoke about the achievements of Uzhhorod National University in the field of education and science, its fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the implementation of joint projects and programmes with the regional state administration within the signed memorandum. The rector emphasized: “It is very important for us to provide a high quality professional training to our graduates. We are located in the far west of the country, so objectively we are competing with the universities of the neighboring European countries. Today, UzhNU is among the top 10 classical universities in the country. Almost 15,000 students study here, which is the largest number in its 75-year history, every year we introduce new modern courses. The number of applicants wishing to study at Uzhhorod National University, including foreign students, is constantly growing."

Volodymyr Smolanka also acquainted the guests with large-scale repair and restoration works that are currently being carried out at the university, in particular in the buildings of the university administration and the faculty of medicine.
