Welcome Center opens at Uzhhorod National University
Uzhhorod National University (UzhNU) has opened a new Welcome Center aimed at providing essential support to international students and interns. This center aims to enhance the experience of foreign students at the university, providing essential resources and orientation to help them adapt to both academic life and the broader community in Uzhhorod. The initiative aligns with UzhNU’s commitment to international cooperation and creating a safe, inclusive environment, even during these unprecedented challenging times in Ukraine.
The Center is designed to serve as a one-stop hub for helping students navigate life both on and off campus, offering services that range from administrative assistance to practical guidance for everyday living. The Welcome Center will offer extensive support to students, assisting with a range of services from navigating local housing options and financial matters to healthcare options and transportation. Additionally, the Center will provide detailed guidance on the university’s academic system and the resources available to students. The Center will host cultural events and provide insights into local customs and traditions to further facilitate integration into the local community.
The opening event gathered faculty members, staff, and incoming and current international students and interns. Mykhailo Hechko, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Education, addressed the attendees in a warm welcome speech, emphasizing the University’s dedication to fostering a multicultural environment. In his speech, Hechko highlighted the importance of cross-cultural exchange and expressed gratitude for students’ decision to pursue their studies at UzhNU despite challenges. He also reassured students that the Welcome Center would serve as a vital support hub throughout their academic journey .
This development reflects Uzhhorod National University’s ongoing efforts to integrate international students into the academic and social aspects of campus and city life while also offering assistance with living matters. With students from over 50 countries, UzhNU has evolved into a more diverse academic institution, broadening its offerings for international students.
