UzhNU students commemorated the Heavenly Hundred Heroes
The Heavenly Hundred Heroes Day is marked in Ukraine on February 20th to honour the feat of the participants of the Revolution of Dignity and commemorate the Heavenly Hundred Heroes. On these days in 2014 during the Revolution of Dignity, the confrontation between the Ukrainian people and the ruling regime reached its peak. On February 20, 2014, the majority of Maidan activists were killed.
Today, on February 20, 2020, students of Uzhhorod National University commemorated the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, laid flowers at the Memorial to the Fighters for Ukraine’s Freedom and Independence and lit the candles.There was also a photoexhibition dedicated to the Revolution of Dignity in the main building of UzhNU.
This day of remembrance was approved by the decree of the President of Ukraine to perpetuate the great human, civil and national courage, dedication, and strength of spirit, which changed the course of Ukraine’s history. This is the day to honour the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, who gave their lives during the Revolution of Dignity defending the ideals of democracy, human rights, freedoms, and Ukraine’s European future.
