UzhNU starts cooperation with Donetsk University in exile
On February 24, 2016 probably the first cooperation agreement between the national universities within the country – Uzhhorod University and Donetsk University which moved to Vinnytsia – was signed. The agreement provides for wide-ranging cooperation between the universities in joint training of students (internal mobility) and scientific cooperation.
During the meeting, the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka and a Vice-Rector for scientific and pedagogical activity, strategic development and innovation of Donetsk National University Tetiana Nahorniak discussed the issues of organizing a joint international conference, the possibility of internal mobility of students, joint vocational guidance, etc. They also considered the possibility of implementing partnership research projects ilaunched by the Ministry of Education of Ukraine and participation in international grant projects.
The agreement is the result of a month-long negotiation held by the representatives of university administrations. Representatives of the departments of Political Science of both universities will be the first to discuss the possibility of joint trainings of students. Soon the meetings of the deans of the Faculties of Physics and Biology will take place. Negotiation results will be presented at the round table in March 2016.
By the way, Donetsk National University is one of the best traditional universities of Ukraine, which after moving to Vinnytsia, trains about 4.5 thousand students. In 2015, DonNU was the 15th among 286 universities in the consolidated ranking, and the 7th among traditional universities. It was found to be the best university of Central Ukraine.
