UzhNU signed agreement on double diplomas with Šafárik University in Košice
On Thursday, July 11, 2019, Volodymyr Smolanka, the Rector of Uzhhorod National University, and Vasyl Rizak, the Head of the Department of Solid-state Electronics and Information Security of the Faculty of Physics of UzhNU, paid a working visit to Slovakia. They visited the city of Kosice, where Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, one of the most powerful and famous universities in the neighboring country, is based.
UzhNU has been collaborating fruitfully with this higher educational institution for decades, especially in the field of physics, because Uzhhorod and Kosice schools of physics are very well known in the European scientific environment. During the implementation of one of the joint projects, the idea of signing an agreement on the development of academic cooperation between the universities was born. Actually, the agreement on the programme of double master’s degree diplomas in physics was signed by the Rectors of the universities, Volodymyr Smolanka and Pavol Sovak.
Thus, from September 1, 2019, our students of physics will be able to participate in the programme and, together with the diploma of UzhNU, they will receive a European diploma. In order to get it, they will have to study at least one semester in Kosice. It is free of charge, students will only pay the standard cost of living in a hostel.
Volodymyr Smolanka, Pavel Sovak, and the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Mobility Sylvia Rucinska discussed the prospects of expanding cooperation between the universities in other formats, including joint participation in international grant projects, internships for students and teachers, trainings, etc.
