UzhNU provides its students with comprehensive development opportunities
WHERE TO LIVE? ON THE CAMPUS!
6 hostels of UzhNU that are part of the university campus are located in three different districts of the city near the educational buildings of UzhNU. They can accommodate about 3 thousand people, including Ukrainian and foreign students, post-graduate students, interns and university applicants.
There are 2 student polyclinics, shops, cafes and sports grounds on the campus. There are libraries, reading rooms with free Wi-Fi and modern gyms inside the hostels.
During the last three years, the managers of the university paid special attention to the improvement of housing conditions for the residents of student hostels. Major overhaul has been carried out in residential blocks, more than 1000 windows have already been replaced with new ones, the roofs of the hostels have also been repaired.
In 2016, with the help of the Hungarian partners of UzhNU, the 6th, the 5th floors and the lobby of hostel #4 were completely renovated. The management of the university is planning to renovate the entire building of hostel # 4.
Another important point is that it’s much cheaper to live on the campus than rent an apartment in the city. Moreover, it’s much more interesting.
SPORTS GROUNDS AND SPORTS COMPLEX WITH THE SWIMMING POOL
At the end of last summer, all the Transcarpathian media, without exception, covered the news about a new modern sports ground, which was built near hostel #4. There’s a modern synthetic grass football field, a tennis court, ping-pong tables, a basketball and volleyball playground and sports simulators at present. The sports facility is lit up in the evening and there’s also a small podium for the audience.
Another sports complex of the university is located near the "Avangard" stadium and the university hostels on the banks of the Uzh river. The residents of Uzhhorod call it "Burevisnyk". There’s a great swimming pool which was completely renovated a few years ago. Both students and university staff can use this sports facility. All-Ukrainian water sports competitions are regularly held here.
There are also several gyms in “Burevisnyk”, where various tournaments, competitions and university sports events are constantly held. 20% of our students go in for sports. The American football team "Lisoruby" of UzhNU successfully performs in the championships of Ukraine. Dozens of our students win regional, national and international sports competitions.
Foreign students of UzhNU brought a game of cricket to Uzhhorod. It’s a kind of sport extremely popular in India. Moreover, the leadership of the Faculty of Healthcare and Physical Education is working on the creation of a university cricket team that would take part in the Ukrainian Cricket Championship.
It will be interesting for the fans of winter sports to know that Uzhhorod National University also has a ski base "Plishka". Therefore, active youth can engage not only in summer but also in winter sports activities.
THE SCIENCE WHICH OPENS THE WORLD
Our university is also a launch pad for the young people who dream of becoming renowned scholars. Recently, our website published an interview with a young scientist-dentist Myroslav Honcharuk-Khomyn, who is only 25 and has already participated in 25 international scientific conferences and has a reputation of an extremely promising young scientist in the circle of his European colleagues. IT students of UzhNU almost always bring awards from different programming contests.
From the first year of study, students of Uzhhorod National University, who are keen on inventions, have the opportunity to realize their ideas by participating in an annual contest of student startups and, innovative projects, the best of which have a chance to be implemented.
Students of UzhNU are active participants of international and all-Ukrainian competitions in various fields of science and culture where they have become winners many times. Due to the fact that Uzhhorod National University has intensified international cooperation and has dozens of partner universities abroad, the world is open to young scientists.
It has already become a good tradition for students and teachers to participate in exchange programs between UzhNU and foreign partner universities.
AND FINALLY ABOUT ENTERTAINMENT
Of course, student life is impossible without travelling and entertainment - discos, beauty contests, concerts, festivals, various public events, non-standard flashmobs, picnics, ascents to Hoverla, etc.
UzhNU is a truly international university - more than 700 foreign students from different countries and continents study here and it’s a great opportunity for Ukrainian students to learn more about other traditions, culture and customs.They can also try exotic dishes at the annual culinary festival, which is held during the Student Friendship Week.
In 2017 the university, together with the sport dance club "Gracia", which brought up the famous coulpe of the world champions Volodymyr Lyatov and Viktoria Myshko, invites students to dancing classess.
If you have a talent for singing, we invite you to the vocal studio "Solo mio". If you are interested in history and culture or the history of culture, join the house of historical dance and game "Tartak". If you play some musical instruments and love music, there are youth rock bands “Doping” and “Castrum”.
