UzhNU hosted an international project

On October 20-23, Uzhhorod National University hosted about fifty participants of the TEMPUS project «Support of the knowledge triangle in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova" from Slovakia, Belarus, Moldova and Germany. The project participants had the opportunity to receive detailed information about our university, visit "Jabil Circuit Ukraine Limited" and get acquainted with company’s technologies and work.

The final stage of the project took place in Uzhhorod today. It was a working meeting, which gathered a powerful consortium of partner countries of the project, namely the universities of Belarus, Moldova, Slovakia, Latvia and Germany. The final stage of the project, which had lasted for three years, was held by Uzhhorod University, which was also a partner of the project.

The business meeting was begun by the Rector of UzhNU, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka. He told the participants about the history of the university, its achievements and said that over the past two years Uzhhorod University had risen significantly in the rankings across Ukraine, and was also actively involved in the drafting of various kinds of projects both for the city and for the whole of Transcarpathia.

The project manager Professor Klaus Rosenthal from Germany also delivered his welcoming speech. He stressed the need for continuous technical development and cooperation between universities and enterprises. "We saw a very good example during our yesterday’s visit to the factory. I was surprised when I saw how many people worked at the factory, because German manufactures are more automated and robotized. Manual labour is disappearing at factories and plants nowadays. Our objective is to unite universities and companies for a common purpose. Such practice is important for all countries".

The director of the Career center of UzhNU Tetiana Buturlakina says that owing to the given project the University began fruitful scientific work this year by launching a university start-up contest: "We see the prospects of the project development, which aims to analyze the impact on the development of the regional economy. Therefore our aim is the innovative approach declared by adopting the university development concept until 2025. The approach to the development of regional economy and ways of interaction are fundamentally new. This should involve the interaction of technologies, intellectual resource, manufactures and businesses. However, this can not be realized without the support of the relevant governmental authorities. We believe we’ll make a breakthrough in regional economic development. The most active participants of the competition "Startup UzhNU - 2016" will present their business ideas today".

The reports were also presented by the Vice-rector for academic policy of UzhNU, professor Myroslava Lendel, the director of the SRI of the Analytical Technique Means, associate professor Yosyp Holovach, associate professor of the Faculty of Economics Tetiana Buturlakina, professor of the Faculty of Economics Svitlana Slava and the students of UzhNU, whose innovative ideas had been supported at the contest "Startup UzhNU - 2016".
