UzhNU hosted a delegation from the University of Rzeszów

On Monday, 21 July, an official meeting with a delegation from the University of Rzeszów (Poland) took place at Uzhhorod National University. The purpose of the visit was to establish and develop international cooperation in the fields of medical and natural sciences, as well as to discuss opportunities for joint projects. The Polish delegation included the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Prof. Adam Reich, MD, PhD, and the Vice-Rector for Finance and Development, Dr. Józef Cebulski, PhD.

The meeting was opened with a welcome speech by the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka: ‘Thank you very much for your willingness to develop our cooperation. Last night was difficult in Ukraine — you heard several air raid sirens in a row. This is unusual for our region, but this is the situation at the moment.’

As a sign of mutual respect, commemorative symbolic gifts were exchanged at the beginning of the visit. After that, the delegation members discussed areas for further cooperation between the two universities. A number of partnership formats were considered. In particular, the possibilities of implementing academic mobility programmes for students and lecturers were discussed, which would contribute to improving the quality of the educational process. Representatives of the University of Rzeszów also proposed introducing a double degree system. Myroslava Lendiel, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work at UzhNUemphasised that our university already has experience in partnerships of this kind, which could be useful for implementing this proposal. At the same time, an important component of the further development of the partnership is the scientific direction, which opens up new opportunities for scientists from both universities.

After the discussion, the delegation from the University of Rzeszów visited the medical, dental and biological faculties. In each of the departments, meetings were held with their heads, during which areas of academic and scientific cooperation were discussed. At the medical faculty, the Polish guests got acquainted with the educational and technical base used in the educational process. At the dental faculty, they had the opportunity to visit the clinical premises and research infrastructure, as well as continue the dialogue on future academic cooperation. The final location was the university's biology faculty, where key scientific areas were presented and a tour of the laboratories was organised.
