UzhNU celebrated 71st anniverary of its foundation

The meeting began with the national anthem of Ukraine performed by the university choir "Boyan". Then the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka delivered his congratulatory speech. "For 71 years of its existence the university has become alma-mater for more than 70 thousand professionals in different areas. We can confidently say that there is no large institution or a small private enterprise in Transcapathia, which would not employ at least one ex-student of UzhNU. Our university itself is the institution employing the largest number of people in the Transcapathian region.” - said Volodymyr Smolanka.

“Today Ukraine is going through hard times. It’s not enough to gain freedom and statehood, they must be defended. I am proud to say that among the brave soldiers of Ukrainian Armed Forces and volunteer battalions, which stopped the enemy on the eastern borders of our Motherland, protected our region, our university, there are ex-students of Uzhhorod National University. There are also 25-30 year old veterans of war, who are our students at present. We are greatful to you, our glorious Motherland defenders for your heroic deeds, genuine patriotism and victimhood that you showed in the battles with the enemy!"
