University congratulated journalists on their professional holiday

On Journalist Day the university management met with the representatives of Transcarpathian media. The Rector and Vice-rectors congratulated media workers on their professional holiday, described academic, scientific and organizational work done at UzhNU over the past two years, and shared their vision of the development of UzhNU and cooperation with the media community of the region.

The Rector Volodymyr Smolanka said: "Your work is vital. I personally start and finish the day reading the news to find out what is happening in the world and in our town. Actually, modern life is impossible without journalism and journalists. I am very pleased that we have established good relations and close cooperation with the leading media of the region, and appreciate that they publish objective information about our university. Positive evaluation of Uzhhorod National University, as well as constructive criticism is an incentive for us to become better. I want to wish you good luck, happiness and solid health, which would allow you to work fruitfully in the most creative profession in the world".

Vasyl Ilnytskyy, the PR manager of UzhNU, thanked his colleagues for objective coverage of events and innovations implemented at our university: "Media and university are colleagues, because we are involved in common business in the field of education and enlightenment. I want to thank you for cooperation and express willingness to make it more dynamic and ambitious. I’ve been working in journalism for 35 years and I can say that UzhNU is a huge repository of intelligence, vast array of interesting, relevant and urgent topics for journalistic publications".

Innovations actively implemented by the university were also the matter of discussion. Vice-rector Myroslava Lendel said: "If you analyze our work, you can see that we have passed from quantity to quality. We have started doing a lot of new things, good results of which can already be seen. For example, we have proven that we can efficiently teach foreign students in English, we are preparing programmes in foreign language for Ukrainian students. We feel that a lot of various courses taught at our university are in demand among foreigners. Moreover, the geography of students is expanding. Our students come from Asia, Africa and Central Europe. Foreigners studying at our university are the evidence of prestige, and high level of the university. Now we can speak about the so called "boomerang effect" - UzhNU admits more foreign students and gets more opportunities to send its students to other European universities for double degree programmes,” - summarized Myroslava Lendel.

During the current academic year, the university was visited by many European and Ukrainian political and cultural figures, including Jan Tombinski, Ivan Shtefanets, Nestor group representatives, etc. The university has become an authoritative platform for communicating with prominent people, a place for presentation of significant social, cultural or economic projects.
