The participants of the project “Inclusive CEE: Challenges and Integration of Refugees from Ukraine” held a meeting

A working meeting was held at the Institute of European Integration Studies of UzhNU with the coordinator of the research project “INCLUSIVE Central and Eastern Europe: Challenges and Integration of Refugees from Ukraine” (№ 22330013) with the financial support of the International Visegrad Fund - Dr. Jana Paptsunova, PhD, from the Institute of Social Sciences of the Center for Social and Psychological Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (Košice, Slovak Republic), in which the Institute is a partner.

The research interests of the staff of the Research and Educational Institute for European Integration Studies of UzhNU include, as you know, the problems of Ukraine's European integration, which has recently moved from theoretical to practical. The project “INCLUSIVE CEE: CHALLENGES AND INTEGRATION OF REFUGEE FROM UKRAINE” (№ 22330013) with the financial support of the International Visegrad Fund. The project aims to promote inclusion, strengthen social cohesion, combat hate speech and discrimination, and create a more welcoming environment for Ukrainian refugees across Central and Eastern Europe.

An important aspect of the project participants' initiative is the close cooperation with Uzhhorod National University, especially focused on the experiences of refugees and displaced persons in Ukraine itself, particularly in the city of Uzhhorod. This extends the research to internal displacement, revealing the experiences of those displaced within Ukraine's borders. Key interests include understanding Ukrainian refugees' challenges in accessing public services, experiences of social exclusion, potential tensions with host communities, and the impact of hate speech and discrimination on their lives. The project aims to promote inclusion, strengthen social cohesion, and combat hatred and discrimination, ultimately creating a more comfortable environment for all. The meeting was attended by Petro Tokar - Director of the Institute, PhD in Sociology, Associate Professor of the Department of International Studies and Public Communications, Director of the Research Institute of Migration and Demography, Jean Monnet Centre for European Development Strategies of UzhNU, Yana Paptsunova - Doctor of Philosophy, Institute of Social Sciences, Center for Social and Psychological Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (Kosice, Slovak Republic), Ivan Artiomov - Deputy Director of the Institute, PhD in History, Associate Professor, Liudmyla Sereda, Svitlana Zub, and Krystyna Lovas, leading specialists of the Institute.

The participants of the meeting discussed the interim results of the project and the coordination of its next stages, as well as the directions of further cooperation between the institutes.
