The first “Diia.Business" center in Western Ukraine was opened at UzhNU

On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Transcarpathian Regional Council and the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, officially opened an enterpreneur support center "Diia.Business" at Uzhhorod National University. This is the first center of the kind in Western Ukraine. USAID and Nokia acted as project partners.

"Diia.Business" is a large-scale initiative for the development of Ukrainian business, which has two components - an online platform for entrepreneurs Diia.Business and a network of support centers. In such centers, entrepreneurs can get advice on marketing, sales, taxation and legal issues, as well as attend educational events on business development issues, rent premises for their events, test their product at a special pop-up location, etc.

The opening ceremony was attended by the US Chargé d'Affaires in Ukraine Kristina A. Kvien, the Head for the Development of Electronic Services at the Ministry of Digital Transformation Mstyslav Banik, the Chairperson of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Oleksiy Petrov, the Chairperson of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Anatoliy Poloskov, Uzhhorod National University Vice-Rector Myroslava Lendel, and  Director General of Nokia Solutions and Networks Ukraine LLC Yevhen Balychev. Valeriia Ionan, Deputy Minister for European Integration at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and Volodymyr Smolanka, the Rector of Uzhhorod National University joined the event online.

Kristina A. Kvien, US Charge d'Affaires, said, “Today I was impressed by the diversity of human resources in Transcarpathia, which also means the diversity of creative potential, which is an important factor for the development. After all, creativity increases opportunities for economic development. Centers like Diia.Business are very important to make use of such creativity and help young people start their own businesses and develop in their regions."

The Rector of Uzhhorod National University Volodymyr Smolanka stressed that it’s not a coincidence that such center was opened in the premises of UzhNU and it has high chances to become the epicenter of business in Uzhhorod and a new development point in our region.

"It is a great honor for us to be part of the project that has already become successful. Today, a lot of our students and teachers are watching the opening ceremony. I think the location for "Diia. Business” at UzhNU is the best in our city, because about 5 thousand of our students will pass by the center every day. We want all our graduates to acquire not only theoretical knowledge at university, but also gain communicative skills, establish mutually beneficial ties, and run their own business. Such a wonderful center within the walls of our university will contribute to such mission," said the Vice-Rector Myroslava Lendel.
