The final meeting of the project ‘Inclusive CEE: Challenges and Integration of Refugees from Ukraine’ took place
In March this year, the Institute of Social Sciences of the Centre for Social and Psychological Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (Košice, Slovak Republic) hosted the final working meeting of the implementers of the research project ‘INCLUSIVE CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE: CHALLENGES AND INTEGRATION OF REFUGEE FROM UKRAINE’ (№ 22330013) with the financial support of the International Visegrad Fund.The meeting was moderated by the project coordinator, Dr Yana Paptsunova, PhD.
An important aspect of the initiative of the project participants is close cooperation with Uzhhorod National University, where the Institute of European Integration Studies of UzhNU is a partner, especially focused on the experience of refugees and displaced persons in Ukraine itself, in particular in the city of Uzhhorod. This extends the research to internal displacement, revealing the experiences of those displaced within the borders of Ukraine. Key interests include understanding the problems of Ukrainian refugees in accessing public services, the experience of social inclusion, potential tensions with host communities, and the impact of hate speech and discrimination on their lives. The meeting was attended by Petro Tokar, Director of the Institute, PhD in Sociology, Associate Professor of the Department of International Studies and Public Communications, Director of the Research Institute of Migration and Demography, Jean Monnet Centre for European Development Strategies, UzhNU, and project expert.
The participants of the meeting from five countries discussed the results of the field research during the project and the coordination of the implementation of its next stages, as well as areas for further cooperation between the institutions. In particular, they exchanged experience in organising the field stage of the sociological research, outlined an action plan for the implementation of the final period of the project, the distribution of functional responsibilities among the participants present, and the preparation of the necessary documents based on its results.
