The Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka got vaccinated against COVID-19
According to the order of the Ministry of Health #369 "On Amendments to the Roadmap for the Introduction of the Vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 COVID-19",the Rector of Uzhhorod National University Volodymyr Smolanka was vaccinated as a public figure with Covishield / AstraZeneca on Thursday, March 4, 2021. The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Anatoliy Poloskov, the frontman of Rock-H Viktor Yantso, the frontwoman of Marina and the Company band and some other public figures got vaccinated to promote vaccination against COVID-19 too. Such vaccination is recommended by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, allowing to use possible vaccine residues instead of disposing of them for vaccination of public figures in order to promote immunization.
"As a public figure and a doctor, I decided to go through the public vaccination procedure in order to set a personal example to increase the confidence of our compatriots in this process. Unfortunately, there is a high percentage of medical workers in the region who refuse to get vaccinated. People spread misinformation about the danger or ineffectiveness of vaccination.
I want to note that this procedure helps to protect not only ourselves, but also our relatives, other people with whom we contact in our everyday lives. According to some scientific research, the required number of vaccinated and those who have suffered from the disease should be about 70% of the total population to ensure collective (social) immunity, to protect the society as a whole. Therefore, vaccination is important not only from the medical point of view but also from the social one. I urge everyone to go through the vaccination procedure according to the approved plan, for all of us to be able to return to our usual rhythm of life," Volodymyr Smolanka stressed.
