Teachers of Uzhhorod National University took part in a roundtable held in Germany
Teachers of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Uzhhorod National University took part in a roundtable "Tolerance at the borders of the European Union", which took place on the outskirts of the city of Dresden. The roundtable was held with the participation of a wide range of parties, in particular: the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the German Federal Government Commissioner for Migrants and National Minorities, the Ministry of Education of Hungary, the Saxon Forum for Political Education of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University and Uzhhorod National University (Faculty of Social Sciences and Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies).
The purpose of the roundtable was to discuss the issues of establishing cooperation on conducting integrated scientific interdisciplinary research on tolerance, reconciliation and problems of acceptance at the borders of the European Union.
The participants of the roundtable concluded that the issue of tolerance was extremely relevant for both the European Union and Ukraine (which was suffering from the military conflict and socio-economic crisis), because the democratic type of political culture was impossible without high level of tolerance. This leads to further multidimensional integrated research as well as targeted efforts to build tolerance and reconciliation within Ukraine. Confirmation of tolerance as the basic principle of culture of civil society is an effective condition for the achievement of public consent, peace and stability.
According to the results of the roundtable, the participants agreed on a tentative plan of joint activities and research.
