Summer School "European Affairs and Management of Economic Projects" was held in UzhNU
On 25-26 September, UzhNU hosted a summer school on EU accession for university teachers. It was conducted by representatives of the innovation centre Steinbeis Transfer Management S.R.L. (STM) from Germany and Romania. Uzhhorod National University co-organised the summer school, which aimed to increase the university's institutional capacity to teach courses and conduct trainings related to Ukraine's preparation for EU accession, project management, and the principles of entrepreneurship and innovation management in the EU. The summer school was attended by faculty and students from the Faculty of Social Sciences, History and International Relations, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law.

The main focus of the Summer School is to provide participants with a unique opportunity to improve their critical thinking, problem-solving and leadership skills in the context of Ukraine's future EU membership. According to the organisers, the combination of theoretical knowledge and practical applications will enable the participants to become effective leaders capable of leading and managing successful economic projects within the framework of Ukraine's integration into the EU.
Myroslava Lendel, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of UzhNU, said: "We had an idea to organise a summer school for teachers, and the teachers will pass on this knowledge to students. We are convinced that after interesting presentations and discussions, our teachers will have a complete picture of the skills they need to prepare students - future professionals who will already be working in the European Union."

Jürgen Reisner, Founder and Managing Director of the Steinbeis Centre branches in Germany, Austria, Azerbaijan, Romania and Ukraine, said: "To become a member of the EU, you need a lot of knowledge and skills. And we are talking about them today, about the challenges Ukraine faces in the process of joining the EU. We are also talking about the prospects of relations between Ukraine and Germany and the opportunities we face on this path. During the Summer School, we have the opportunity to share all the experience we have in working in the European Union, particularly in terms of business."

Associate Professor of the Department of International Studies and Public Communications, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development of UzhNU Hanna Melehanych shared her impressions of the Summer School: "The issue of European studies is extremely relevant, as it is important that as many professionals who teach in this area as possible receive important information from people who are well aware of the mechanisms of interaction in the EU, the principles that countries that are just joining it should pay attention to."

Ihor Vehesh, PhD in Political Science, Associate Professor, said: "The key aspect discussed here concerns economic issues, communication and a new round in the context of European integration of Ukrainian-German relations. This is an opportunity for various options for cooperation. We talked about industrial development, environmental friendliness of production, and it was interesting for me as a political scientist, because this is also one of the aspects of cooperation between the two countries, and therefore the political context will also be present."
Among the issues addressed at the Summer School were EU-Ukraine relations, the challenges and opportunities associated with them, multicultural team management and conflict resolution skills that are important for facilitating international cooperation. The Summer School also focused on EU accession, including the Copenhagen criteria, available funding programmes, and the EU's Green Deal. They also worked on developing skills in business idea generation, a key aspect of innovation management that is central to entrepreneurship.
