Students of Wroclaw university came to UzhNU

On Monday, April 24, 2017 students of Ukrainian philology department of the University of Wroclaw (Poland), paid a visit to UzhNU under the guidance of our compatriot, professor of their university Oleh Beley.

Polish students had an interesting conversation with an Honored Journalist of Ukraine, publicist, the director of the Information and Publishing Center of Uzhhorod National University Vasyl Ilnytskyi, who told about the history of journalism in Transcarpathia, its formation in the XX-XXI centuries  and current challenges.

"When I was a student, there were faculties of journalism only at two universities - in Kyiv and Lviv, where they trained high-level professionals for the whole of Ukraine. Some of our teachers were famous scientists. I was lucky to be a student of a professor of Lviv National University, Doctor of Philology, Honored Journalist of Ukraine Volodymyr Zdoroveha. It should be noted that at that time Ukrainian regional television and radio journalism was just beginning to develop, and online editions didn’t exist."

He also told the students about the development of the Transcarpathian printed media between the wars and in Soviet times; emphasized on the times, when there appeared new Ukrainian printed media. In particular, he told about the first non-governmental editions in Transcarpathia and described in detail the current situation in the media of the region.

After the lecture Mr.Ilnytskyi thanked the Polish students for choosing Ukrainian studies as their major and for coming to Ukraine. He also presented his collection of political essays to the Polish guests.
