Representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan visited UzhNU
On Wednesday, May the tenth, 2017 there was a meeting with the representatives of the specialized committee for recognition of foreign educational institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan took place in the administration building of UzhNU. Vice-Rectors of UzhNU Myroslava Lendel and Oleksandr Rohach and the dean of the Faculty of Medicine # 2 Vasyl Kaliy met with the members of the commission at the request of the Ukrainian branch of the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the Russian Federation.
The main topics of the conversation were the nostrification of diplomas of UzhNU in the Kingdom of Jordan and the prospects for Jordanian students to study in Uzhhorod. Currently, our university is completing the procedure of nostrification and recognition of foreign higher educational institutions by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan. According to Myroslava Lendel, this long process is to be completed in June, and then our university will be able to train students from Jordan. Applicants from this country are mainly interested in studying at the faculties of medicine, dentistry and engineering. The Vice-Rector Myroslava Lendel informed the guests that UzhNU was one of the largest Ukrainian universities, training more than 700 foreign students. Vasyl Kaliy added that the development of educational services and the expansion of international cooperation were the main priorities of the managers of UzhNU.
Mohammad Al-Zbun, the Director of the department for nostrification and recognition of higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan, assured the vice-rectors of UzhNU that his country was well aware of the fact that Ukrainian universities provided high level education. According to him, many highly qualified top-level Jordanian doctors, who were educated in Ukraine, give very positive feedback about our universities. However, according to Mr. Mohammad Al Zbun, Jordanian students are interested not only in medical, pharmaceutical or dental education. The range of their interests is much wider. So, Jordan would like its students to be trained not in English, but in Ukrainian.
Mager Lutfi Davood Salim, a former rector of the University "Al-Sharq al-Awsat" in Amman, a member of the committee for recognition of foreign higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan, said that Jordanians wanted their students to follow the same curriculum and study in the same language as their Ukrainian counterparts. The teachers of UzhNU have to be demanding and strict with them, because after the completion of their study in Ukraine, Jordanian students must pass a very difficult test at home to confirm their knowledge. Mr. Mager Lutfi Davood Salim added that despite the popularity of correspondence education in the world, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan was still interested in traditional education.
The Vice-Rector for Academic Policy and Research of UzhNU Oleksandr Rohach assured his Jordanian counterparts that the managers of UzhNU would do their best to make future students from Jordan feel comfortable in Uzhhorod and get decent and high quality education at our university.
After the meeting, our guests from Jordan visited several faculties, medical laboratories and a student hostel of UzhNU and familiarized themselves with the sports facilities of the university.
