International information and international economics are new specialities at the Faculty of International Economic Relations of UzhNU

The Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations of UzhNU Mykola Palinchak tells about new specialities.

What new specialities are introduced at the Faculty of International Economic Relations this year?

Strong academic staff of the faculty made it possible to open new specialities - international information and international economics. We have been training specialists in international economics for many years, but in connection with European integration process there is a need to increase the number of specialists in this field. I am pleased to say that we receive many phone calls from the representatives of the firms with foreign capital who ask to recommend experts in economics with knowledge of foreign languages. Our graduates work for major institutions and enterprises, the leadership of which helps us with career guidance. Former students of our faculty like to say: "I have high salary, but I have no right to disclose it."

In what areas will your future graduates be able to work?

Specialists in international economics may work as economists for international companies, banks, stock exchanges, agencies of state regulation of the economy.

Speciality "International Information" is designed to train professionals of international scope, political commentators, political scientists, interpreters/translators. This specialization is on the verge of international journalism. Such specialists - as well as journalists covering international affairs - will have the profession of an interpreter. We hope that this year many strong applicants will be admitted and we’ll be able to make them experts in their profession.

How many students have you been licensed to admit to each new speciality?

30 people in every speciality to both full-time and part-time forms of study.

What are the career prospects for your graduates?

Many of our graduates have made their careers in the diplomatic service in the Cabinet of Ministers, the Verkhovna Rada and the Presidential Administration. Of course, we are very proud of our consuls and representatives in UNESCO. Two of our graduates work at the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary, one works in Qatar. There are students who are already in the diplomatic service, but continue studying at our faculty.

What would you like to wish the entrants who are going to enter the Faculty of International Economic Relations?

I would like to wish our entrants to think well when choosing their future profession, it is very important. It can be compared to marriage - once and for all. Likewise, one should choose their profession. We are waiting for good students, in turn we promise a high level of teaching, guarantee good and friendly atmosphere.
