Conference of delegates of International Alumni Association UzhNU

A conference of the International Alumni Association of UzhNU took place on Thursday, 22 June 2017. More than 450 participants from Ukraine and abroad have already joined the organization, its separate units have been set up in Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Romania and Israel. The meeting was attended by the representatives of all faculties of the University and its alumni.

Opening the conference, the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka emphasized: "We are all alumni of Uzhhorod university, we are proud of it, and we strive to help it. I am sure that the Association will accelerate the formation of UzhNU as an innovative university, a leading scientific and educational center not only of our region but also Ukraine."

The chair of the Board of the International Alumni Association of UzhNU, the first vice-rector Oleksandr Slyvka noted that the main goal of the organization was to join efforts of all generations of UzhNU alumni in order to increase the prestige of the university as a leading educational institution. "We have been dreaming about the alumni association for decades! Its registration as a legal entity is being completed now. We are planning to hold a forum of alumni of UzhNU in October this year during the celebration of the anniversary of our university. We want to invite the alumni of UzhNU both from Ukraine and abroad."

 Executive director of the Association told the delegates about the plans: "We have already established  separate units in seven districts of the region. In order to coordinate their work we need to meet with their leaders. We are pleased that a lot of our alumni living abroad would like to join the organization. One of the first was an alumnus of the Faculty of Physics Nadia Goldovska, who lives in Israel, works at the University of Jerusalem and is an advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel. She works in the field of metrology and is "the guardian of the exact time of Israel."

The delegates of the conferecne took a number of important decisions on the organizational structure and leadership of the Association. They elected the Rector of UzhNU, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka  as the President and the head of the Council of International Alumni Association of UzhNU for the term of 5 years. Oleksandr Slyvka was elected as the chairperson of the Board of the International Alumni Association of UzhNU and Ivan Artyomov was elected as its executive director.

 The Conference approved the members of the Council of the Association and elected the members of the Audit Committee. The conference participants also decided to create separate units of the Association in Ukraine and abroad.
