UzhNU will open the exhibition "Day-2015" and award the winners
Uzhhorod National University is a partner of this year’s XVII International Photo Contest initiated by the newspaper "Den" (Day). It is going to participate in the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition "Day-2015" and award the winners. The event will take place on November 6 at Kyiv city art gallery "Lavra".
One of the awards will be presented to winners by a representative of our university. As noted in the invitation letter by the Director of "Ukrainian Media Group" N.Ushakova, "together we organize a wonderful Festival of photos motivating people to unite around the national idea, actively participate in the life of their country and the entire progressive world."
This year’s focus is not so much on the emotional component (although it is impossible to do without it), but on better understanding of the events Ukraine is currently going through.
16 years of photo history, 111 exhibitions in 31 cities of Ukraine, 702 awarded photographers are the history of International Photo Contest initiated by the newspaper "Den". This year’s statisticts is also impressive - about 200 participants sent more than 3,000 photos. The jury selected 350 best photos. According to a jury member, Bild editor of the newspaper "Den" Mykola Tymchenko, a lot of photos taken in the ATO are came to the contest, the photos of the soldiers were sent both by professional photographers and volunteers. "We traditionally receive many pictures with political contents, a lot of photos depicting ordinary life, which means that people do not only think about the war," - he said.
In addition to regular contest nominations - "Events", "Life as it is", "Politics", "Genre Photo" and "The world through children’s eyes", there were also new ones. So, a separate nomination initiated by international organization UNDP "Building a new country together" now includes sub-nominations "I am reforming the country", "New Donbass", "IDPs. Life from scratch!" and "Clean and green Ukraine". Photographers in the category "Water birds" will be awarded for the first time this year.
The exhibition is open from the 7th till 15th of November. The entrance in free.
