UzhNU results in the University Impact Rankings 2025 (Times Higher Education)

The British publication Times Higher Education recently published the University Impact Rankings 2025, which assesses the contribution of universities to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In total, it covers 17 global goals and takes into account both the overall impact of higher education institutions and their performance in specific areas such as health, affordable energy, justice, partnerships, etc. The results are used to compile an overall list.

This year, Uzhhorod National University maintained its high position in the Impact Rankings 2025 and took 4th place among Ukrainian higher education institutions, sharing the podium with 10 other universities. It is worth noting that last year there were 44 participants from Ukraine, and now there are 55, but UzhNU continues to maintain its position in the ranking.

In 2025, Uzhhorod National University was nominated in four categories:

  • Goal 3: ‘Good Health and Well-being’;
  • Goal 7: ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’;
  • Goal 16: ‘Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’;
  • Goal 17: ‘Partnerships for the Goals’.

Within Block 3, ‘Good Health and Wellbeing,’ the university ranked in the 601-800 range among 1,788 institutions worldwide, with an overall score of 56.2. The highest results were recorded in cooperation with medical institutions and the provision of health services (68.7) and the number of graduates in this field (63.2).

In the area of Affordable and Clean Energy, which corresponds to UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 7, the university ranked 801–1000 out of 1,181 participants. The highest score was given for Energy Use Density, which was 76.3.

The activities of the higher education institution were also presented in block 16, Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. According to the results, UzhNU ranked 601-800 out of 1,265 universities.

The university was also evaluated in block 17, ‘Partnership for the Goals,’ which is a mandatory component of the ranking and accounts for 22% of the overall result. In this area, UzhNU ranked between 1001 and 1500 among 2389 institutions. The highest score was recorded in the category ‘Relationships to support the goals’ — 73.3, which indicates active international and intersectoral cooperation of the university.

Overall, the university is making significant progress in the field of health and international partnerships. It also continues to improve in each of these areas.
