UzhNU is the 12th best among Ukrainian universities in U-Multirank World University Rankings

U-Multirank is a multidimensional, user-driven approach to international ranking of higher education institutions. It is developed and implemented on the initiative of the European Commission by an independent consortium led by the Centre for Higher Education (CHE) in Germany, the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) in the Netherlands, as well as the Foundation for Knoweldge and Development (Fundación CYD) in Spain. It compares the performances of higher education institutions  in the five dimensions of university activity: (1) teaching and learning, (2) research, (3) knowledge transfer, (4) international orientation and (5) regional engagement.

At present, U-Multirank ranking covers 1759 universities from 92 countries of the world, including 1070 European universities. This year, 76 Ukrainian higher education institutions have been included in the ranking, which made it possible for our universities to compare their indexes with foreign universities. We are pleased to state that Uzhhorod Naional University has also been included in the ranking. Moreover, it immediately took the prestigious 12th place among Ukrainian higher education institutions in the ranking table.

Our university received the highest score in the section "International Orientation", namely due to the high indicator in the categories of international joint publications and international scientific cooperation with foreign institutions in general. Uzhhorod National University is presented as a regional leader, which is confirmed by the high level of employment of graduates (both bachelors and masters) in the region due to the training of competitive and highly qualified specialists.

In total, the ranking covers 28 subject areas: biology, business, chemical engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, information technologies, dentistry, economics, education, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, history, industrial engineering, materials science, mathematics, mechanical engineering, medicine, nursing, pharmacy/pharmacology, physics, political science, psychology, social work/welfare and sociology, as well as the following subjects examined in 2020 for the first time: linguistics, international law, social geography and Earth science/geology.

The ranking takes into consideration the data for the last two-four years. The data included in U-Multirank are drawn from a number of sources: information supplied by the institutions themselves, data from international bibliometric and patent databases, national databases, and surveys completed by students of participating universities.

We are confident that the success achieved during 2018-2020 will contribute to a better position of Uzhhorod National University in the next U-Multirank ranking.

Reference: The U-Multirank system was officially adopted in late January 2013 in Dublin by the European Union as a modern alternative to established ranking systems. The main purpose of U-Multirank is to assess various areas of activity of higher education institutions and rank them according to these criteria. Due to this, the ranking has become a unique database of the activities of the world's leading universities, which allows to compare educational institutions by different criteria.
