International Students’ Day was solemnly celebrated at UzhNU

Celebrations on the occasion of the International Students’ Day took place in the large hall of the administration building of UzhNU. The guests of honour invited to the solemn event were the People's Hero of Ukraine, military chaplain, Fr. Ivan Isayevych, representatives of military patriotic organization "Carpathian Sich" and its head Taras Deyak, and vice-mayor of Uzhhorod Oleksandr Bilak.

The Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka said in his welcome speech: "All the teachers and professors feel a bit nostalgic for our student years because they are the best ones. On the one hand, I want you to be active, we always expect students to debate. On the other hand, be wise, learn to distinguish the situations when people defend their private interests and try to manipulate you, hiding behind some slogans. I wish you to become good specialists and people of merit after graduation."

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Taras Deyak noted that students always were driving forces of revolutions "During the Revolution of Dignity and the war in the East of Ukraine, students are the ones who struggle, who fight for truth, freedom and our Ukrainian land. There are lots of UzhNU students among my military colleagues. I believe, that the youth will lead us to truly independent catholic Ukrainian state."

The People's Hero of Ukraine, military chaplain, a veteran of war in eastern Ukraine Fr. Ivan Isayevych, addressed the students: "You are our present and our future. We wish you to be wise and kindle the flame in your hearts. You should remember that we are temporary guests in this world, therefore you should always behave decently to have nothing to be ashamed of. Do not trust the people who make promises, trust your heart and knowledge! May you never give up and move forward. God bless you!"

During the solemn meeting the distinguished students were congratulated and commended for their academic, public and sports achievements.
