Academic Council of UzhNU considered a number of important organizational issues

On Tuesday, November 8th, a meeting of the Academic Council of Uzhhorod National University took place. Members of the Council considered the issues of final certification of post-graduates, the results of admission campaign to the post-graduate courses of UzhNU, approval of accreditation materials, changes in the structure of some faculties, etc.

The Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka awarded Professor Khoma Oleksyk with the diploma of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine. Then the floor was given to the head of the Department of Postgraduate Courses and Doctoral Studies Natalia Miklosh, who reported on final certification of post-graduates and the results of admission campaign to the post-graduate courses of UzhNU 2016. She said that as of November, 8th there were 325 post-graduate and 18 doctoral students studying at UzhNU. The second issue to be considered was the one of accreditation and licensing materials approval, which was supported unanimously.

Vice-rector for academic policy and research Oleksandr Slyvka reported on a number of important issues including the implementation of the work plan to resolve the comments of the State inspectorate for higher educational institutions and the implementation of measures to improve the structure of the university.

As a result of voting, they merged the Department of Slavic Languages ​​and Contrastive Linguistics with the Department of World Literature and Comparative Studies, and created the Department of Slavic Philology and World Literature.

The Faculty of Healthcare and the university Department of Physical Education anso merged and formed the Faculty with the new name "The Faculty of Health and Physical Education", which consists of four departments: theory and methodology of physical education; physical rehabilitation; health basics; physical education.

The Faculties of History; International Policy, Management and Business; and  International Relations were also reorganized. Two new faculties were created instead of three: the Faculty of History and International Relations and the Faculty of International Economic Relations.

The Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences with the Hungarian Language of Teaching was granted the status of Training and Research Institute with the following structure:

- the Department of Hungarian Philology

- the Department of History of Hungary  and European Integration

- the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences

- Center of Hungarology

 - Center for the Study of European Integration and National Minorities.

The structure of the Faculty of Social Sciences was also changed by joining the Department of  Pedagogy and Psychology to it. The name of the department was changed to the Department of Pedagogy.

The Department of International Relations was renamed to the Department of International Politics; the Department of International Business, Logistics and Management is now the Department of Business Administration, Marketing and Management; and the Department of Applied Linguistics was attached to the Faculty of International Relations.

 The Academic Council unanimously supported the decision to establish the Information and Publishing Centre of UzhNU, which united all university media and publishing subdivisions.
