A renovated classroom for students studying Romanian language and literature was opened at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of UzhNU
On Friday, 2 May, a delegation from Romania, consisting of the Romanian Consul in Solotvyno Gracian-Florin Pirvu, the head of the Maramures County Council Gabriel-Valer Zetei and representatives of the Maramures County Council, arrived at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of UzhNU. The distinguished guests joined the opening of the renovated classroom for students studying Romanian language and literature.
The Department of Romanian Philology was founded in 1990. Since then, hundreds of students have successfully completed a quality education and become specialists in Romanian philology and have realised their potential in various fields in Ukraine and abroad. Of course, any department needs support in its development. Thanks to the grant assistance from the Romanian side, one of the faculty's classrooms was renovated and equipped with a projector, interactive whiteboard, laptop, printing, copying and scanning device, and other equipment and furniture.
The Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka said: ‘Every time we open something new at our university, I get a great pleasure. Today, thanks to the support of the Romanian government, the doors have been opened to the auditorium, which students will be happy to use during their educational process. We are trying to make our university as modern and up-to-date as possible. Currently, as you may have noticed, our main building is undergoing radical changes. Of course, it is not easy to do this in the wartime conditions we have been in for years. And your help is all the more valuable to us. And, in general, the support of the Romanian people for our citizens.’
The floor was also given to the head of the Maramures County Council, Gabriel-Valer Zetaia: ‘In the two days of our stay in Zakarpattia, this event is the most emotional for us. It is very nice to know that your language, traditions and culture are preserved in the neighbouring country. During our visit, we also held meetings with the regional authorities to discuss the joint development of our good neighbourhood. First of all, I represent my Maramures county, and our regions will always be close to each other, we will not go anywhere from each other. Therefore, it is very important for us to preserve and value our relations.’
Finally, the distinguished guests, together with the students and teachers of UzhNU, took a joint photo.
