Project duration: 01.01.2025-31.12.2026

Co-financed by the INTERREG VI-A NEXT HUNGARY-SLOVAKIA-ROMANIA-UKRAINE PROGRAMME DRANICA.24 will enhance cross-border cooperation and life quality in the Carpathian Euroregion, by preserving and promoting the cultural immaterial wooden heritage of the cross-border region Hungary-Romania-Ukraine (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Maramures  and Transcarpathia).

Over the course of 24 months, partners from Hungary, Romania and Ukraine (Chamber of Commerce and Industry Maramureș – Romania, Maramureș Museum – Romania, Uzhhorod National University – Ukraine, and University of Miskolc – Hungary) will be working on this topic, empowering knowledge transfer and bringing closer local communities. The project is coordinated by Chamber of Commerce and Industry Maramureș.

Overall objective of the project: Enhance cross-border cooperation and life quality in the region, through culture and sustainable tourism, by preserving and promoting the cultural immaterial wooden heritage of Carpathian Euroregion (traditional woodworking handbook), empowering knowledge transfer (links between specialized tourists and wood craftsmen), bringing closer local communities and thinning dividing lines between EU members (Hungary, Romania) and Ukraine.

The main tasks of the project:

-  transfer the knowledge of the cultural immaterial wooden heritage of project cross border region to relevant stakeholders, by preparing & disseminating a knowledge transfer instrument: a technical handbook for traditional woodworking (tools, techniques & know-how); traditional woodworking workshops and international joint events.

- improve awareness of the project region’ culture and cultural tourism potential through a communication campaign, promoting the region as a common tourist destination for its cultural immaterial wooden heritage, especially by linking local woodcrafters to a specialized tourism market (woodworkers looking for relevant know-how); web platforms; identification & promotion of local wood crafters open to short-time trainings.
