Project goal: 

The main objective will be to upskill HCP educators on nutrition science and its role in supporting HCPs in delivering quality patient care for disease prevention and management.

Project tasks: 

  • Identify the depth and breadth of nutrition knowledge currently taught on HCP degree programmes
  • Establish HCP’s current nutrition knowledge and level of importance placed on nutrition in healthcare
  • Develop a training guide for HCP educators to upskill on nutrition
  • Develop a micro credential for HCP educators to utilise to upskill learners in nutrition
  • Enable educators and health professionals to innovate, including learning from the basics of healthy eating.

Overall, the proposed project has the potential to foster collaboration and synergy across education, training, youth, and sport sectors, leading to improved health outcomes and well-being for individuals and communities.

Planned activities:

Project activities will include a range of research activities, such as data analysis, focus groups, surveys, publications, and infographics, as well as training and promotional activities for the target audience: health professionals, teaching staff, students and broader interest groups, to raise awareness and ensure the transfer of knowledge.

Target audience: Scientific and pedagogical workers (focus on medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and physiotherapy).

Total grant amount: €400,000.00 (for SU "UzhNU": €42,000.00)

The project from SU “UzhNU” is carried out by colleagues of the dental and medical faculties of the university under the organizational guidance of the Department of Medical and Biological Disciplines and the SREC of Molecular Microbiology and The Immunology of Mucous Membranes.

These teams in SU “UzhNU” initiated the creation of the first joint programme initiative (JPI) in Ukraine “Nutrition and Health of Ukrainians” which operates on the basis of memorandums of cooperation with the Association of Nutritionists, the Association of Gastroenterologists, Taras Shevchenko National University.
