International project

"3D and 2D Complex Chalcogenides for Terahertz Photonics"

(Scientific supervisor – Dr. Sci. in Physics and Mathematics, Prof. O.O. Hrabar)

Implementation period: January 2025 – December 2027

Goal: fundamental research into the interaction of ultra-broadband terahertz waves with three-dimensional and two-dimensional chalcogenide materials.

Result: obtaining new fundamental data on the parameters of a new class of layered chalcogenide materials in the spectral range where experimental data are currently virtually absent, as well as a demonstration of the use of materials of this type for functional elements of terahertz photonics. The project facilitates the acquisition of new valuable information on the photoconductive, dielectric, and nonlinear optical parameters of a special class of ferroelectric semiconductor 2D and 3D single-crystal chalcogenides in the THz frequency range of the electromagnetic spectrum, which has so far remained practically unexplored.
