Uzhhorod National University can be rightfully proud of the sporting achievements of its students and graduates, as it has one of the best sports and recreation facilities in the region. It hosts both university-wide and regional, national competitions and international sports tournaments. 

The sports and recreation complex of UzhNU includes more than 20 facilities, including a swimming pool, indoor gyms, sports grounds at Ivan Franko Street, sports complexes near the university and college dormitories, as well as a state-of-the-art sports complex near dormitory No. 4, opened in the summer of 2016. In addition, the complex includes the university ski base "Plishka".

The university's sports facilities are designed primarily for training students and university staff. During free hours, everyone can work out at the sports facilities - the swimming pool, playgrounds, gym and football field - for a small fee. "The advantage of the UzhNU sports and recreation complex is that it is not a commercial structure, and the prices for visiting it are lower than other analogues in Uzhhorod," says Andriy Kurta, director of the UzhNU sports and recreation complex.

A special place among the facilities is occupied by the 25-metre-long university swimming pool. It is actively visited by adults and young Uzhhorod residents, the water in the pool meets the  European standards, and visitors have comfortable and spacious changing rooms. The sports complex pays special attention to people's safety, and has all the conditions for effective training and active recreation. The pool hosts swimming and water polo classes for Uzhhorod schoolchildren throughout the year. It also hosts a significant number of regional and national sporting events and international water sports competitions.

 Many sporting events at the university and in the city of Uzhhorod take place in the university's gyms. In particular, volleyball, basketball and other sports competitions are held here, and it is possible to hold classes in various sports in specialised clubs. Athletics training and football competitions take place on the football field, which is located next to the central building of the UzhNU sports complex.

In the summer of 2016, a renovated sports ground that fully complies with European standards was installed near the university's dormitory No. 4. It consists of an artificial mini-football field, a multifunctional basketball, volleyball and tennis court, and various sports equipment. The sports ground is used for student training and sports competitions, and is open to individual visitors in their free time.

The sports and recreation complex also includes smaller sports facilities located at the college and dormitories.  The sports infrastructure of UzhNU allows students to effectively and efficiently practice their favourite sports, keep fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
