When "…Evil years..." gladden
The monograph of the Head of the Department of Ancient and Medieval History of UzhNU Ihor Lihtey under the eloquent title "... Evil years ...": the crisis of the Czech state in 1278 -1283" was published. It is the first in Ukrainian historiography professional work on the history of Czechia in the late thirteenth century.
The monograph published by the publishing house "Lira" consists of 5 chapters. The author makes a review of the sources on the topic, studies the historiography of the issue, explores the division of the Czech Kingdom between the German ruler Rudolph of Habsburg, Otto V Margrave of Brandenburg and Henryk IV Probus, the first years of governance of Otto V the Tall in the Czech lands and the position of Rudolf of Habsburg; traces the role of the Czech nobility in the liberation of Wenceslas II from the trusteeship of Otto V the Tall. Events occurring after the death of the famous Czech ruler of Přemysl Otakar II, the father of Václav II, who expanded the borders of the Czech Kingdom to the Adriatic Sea, but lost everything in the confrontation with Rudolf I of Habsburg.
