Solemn extended meeting of the Academic Council of UzhNU
Today, on August 31 2016, a solemn extended meeting of the Academic Council of UzhNU dedicated to the beginning of a new academic year took place in the big hall of the administration building of UzhNU.
The meeting began with the National Anthem of Ukraine and the prayer for Ukraine performed by the university choir "Boyan". The ceremony was attended by honourable guests including Consul General of Slovakia in Uzhhorod Janka Burianova, Consul of Hungary in Uzhhorod Janos Szabo and the Mayor of Uzhhorod Bohdan Andriyiv.
Opening the work of the Academic Council the Rector Volodymyr Smolanka told the present about the main achievements of the university in the academic year 2015/2016. In particular, he said: "This year we have significantly grown in educational and scientific respect. It can be proved by our position in the consolidated ranking of universities of Ukraine, where we climbed 13 places up. According to the European ranking ARES-2016, which assesses the ability of universities to provide students with necessary knowledge, conduct research and interact with prospective employers, UzhNU is the 13th among 61 best Ukrainian universities".
Volodymyr Smolanka also told about the results of this year's entrance campaign, peculiarities of research and educational modernization of the university, new specialities and centers opened at the university during the year and about university’s financial state of affairs.
At the end of the meeting the Rector congratulated all the present on the Day of Knowledge and invited everyone to the solemn meeting dedicated to the beginning of a new academic year and initiation of freshers into students.
