The Rector of Charles University Tomas Zima was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of UzhNU

Today the Rector of Charles University, Professor Tomas Zima, has been awarded an honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of Uzhhorod National University. The ceremony took place during the UzhNU staff conference.


The Professor was awarded the honorary title for the development and strengthening of cooperation with UzhNU and fostering the processes of training specialists in Central Europe. Tomas Zima expressed his appreciation for the award and told about the university headed by him in detail. Charles University was founded in 1348 and is the oldest university in Central Europe. The university provides training in more than 300 accredited programmes. There are 17 faculties employing more than 8 thousand people in its structure. The university trains 51 thousand students. It becomes the alma mater for more than 8,000 graduates every year.


More than 170 educational programmes are offered by Charles University in foreign languages ​​(English, German and French). The university is in the top 2% of 18,000 universities of the world. According to the EU Commission, the main university of the Czech Republic occupies the seventh place in the ranking of popularity among students and teachers of Europe.


Today a cooperation agreement between Uzhhorod National University and Charles University has been signed.
