Scholarly Institute of Ecclesiastical Law, State and Church Relations in accordance to implement the main goals:

- carries out fundamental and applied research on the development of legislation in the field of ecclesiastical law and state-church relations;

-  participates in the preparation of national and regional programs;

-  compiles analytical information reviews of the state and trends in the development of legislation in the field of state ecclesiastical law, analyzes the practice of applying this legislation and, on this basis, develops methods of cooperation of churches and religious organizations with state authorities;

-   conducts scientific research and, based on their results, develops proposals for improvement.

Among the main scientific achievements of the Institute are:

Participation of the Institute together with the Faculty of Law of State University “Uzhhorod National University” in the grant project of the International Visegrad Foundation "Registration of Churches and Religious Organizations" (1.04.2016 – 30.09.2029) in the category "Culture and common identity". The main goal of the project is to study the legal principles regulating registration of Churches and religious organizations in the V4 countries, as well as in Austria and Ukraine; achieving the necessary knowledge and experience for comparing systems and the legislative framework in this field; formulate legal decisions de lege ferenda in Slovakia, focused on strengthening democracy and harmonizing legal provisions. The Partners of the project are Institute for Legal Aspects of Religious Freedom of Trnava University in Trnava (Slovakia); Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (Poland); Law Faculty of Palacký University in Olomouc (Czech Republic); Faculty of Law and Legal Sciences of the Lorand Etves University of Budapest (Hungary); Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna (Austria). The coordinator of the project in Ukraine is the Director, Prof. DDr. Oleksandr Bilash.

Certificate course "State ecclesiastical law in EU countries". The institute together with the Faculty of Law of State University “Uzhhorod National University” and the Faculty of Law of Trnava University in Trnava (Slovakia) launched Certificate course " State ecclesiastical law in EU countries" for students of the 3rd year of study (specialization "Administrative Law") within the framework of studying the discipline " State Ecclesiastical Law" in the spring of 2021. This project is annual and upon successful completion of the course program, students receive appropriate Certificates of completion of the course from the Faculty of Law of the University of Trnava in Trnava (Institute of Legal Aspects of Religious Freedom) and the Faculty of Law of State University “Uzhhorod National University”.

Co-organization of scientific conferences. The Institute actively co-organizes scientific conferences together with such international partners as the Institute of Legal Aspects of Religious Freedom of Trnava University in Trnava (Slovakia), International Center of Law and Religious Studies  J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, USA, Department of Ecclesiastical Public and Constitutional Law of the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (Poland) and others. Among the international scientific conferences co-organized by the Institute are «Islam in Europe – legal status and financing of Islamic religious organizations» (22-23.09.2016, Trnava, Slovakia), «Financing of churches and religious organizations in a comparative perspective» (4.05.2017, Trnava, Slovakia), «The life and blessed works of Saint Oleksiy (Kabalyuk)», dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth and 70th anniversary of the death of the Orthodox Saint of Transcarpathia» (4-5.10.2017, Uzhhorod), «Financing of churches and religious organizations – history and modernity» (30.11.2017, Trnava, Slovakia), «Economic aspects of state-church relations» (20-21.09.2018, Trnava, Slovakia), «Transcarpathia and Athos: spiritual and cultural ties» (dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth Hieromonk Avvakum (Vakarova)» (6-7.11.2019, Uzhhorod), «Actual Topics of State Ecclesiastical Law» (16.11.2021, Trnava, Slovakia) and others.
