Topical issues of cross-border cooperation were discussed at the seminar "Development of cross-border cooperation for the Europeanisation of Ukrainian borders"

The Faculty of Law of Uzhhorod National University (Ukraine) together with the Central European Service for Cross-Border Initiatives (Hungary), the Institute of Economic and Legal Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Ukraine), the Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland), Presov University (Slovakia) and Technical University of Liberec (Czechia) held a seminar "Development of cross-border cooperation for the Europeanisation of Ukrainian borders" on the occasion of the launch of the International Visegrad Fund project "With cross-border cooperation for Europeanization of Ukrainian borders". The event took place on November 24, 2020, online (due to the national COVID-19 pandemic restrictions).

The main objective of the seminar was to present the results of the scientific interdisciplinary research on cross-border cooperation to consolidate the scientific and practical potential for the promotion and development of cross-border cooperation between Ukraine and the European countries.

Professor Jerzy Banski, Director of the Stanislaw Leszczycki Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland, addressed the seminar participants with a welcome speech. The speakers at the seminar were a Member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Director of the state organization “V. Mamutov Institute of Economic and Legal Research of the NAS of Ukraine", Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the NAPrN of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine, Prof. Volodymyr Ustymenko (Kyiv, Ukraine); Simona Pohlova, Representative of the mission of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (Brussels, Belgium); Martin Guillermo Ramirez, Secretary General of the Association of European Border Regions (Gronau, Germany); Alla Kinshchak, the Head of the Main Department for Coordination and Evaluation of Regional Policy Effectiveness of the Regional Policy Directorate of the Ministry of Communities and Territories of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine).

 The seminar was also attended by the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law Yaroslav Lazur, the Head of the Department of International Law Heorhiy Dynys, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law and Procedure Maria Mendzhul and Associate Professor of the Department of International Law Yulia Fetko.

Over 60 participants from Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic took part in the seminar. It brought together the leaders from different levels of governments of the neighboring European countries, representatives of public authorities and bodies of local self-governance, business and scientific community to discuss the theoretical and practical aspects of cross-border cooperation.
