The first in Ukraine innovative university concept will be developed in UzhNU

The first in Ukraine innovative university concept will be developed in UzhNU

The two-year project "Innovative university as a tool of integration with the European education and research area" worth 35 thousand euro has been launched since January, 2015. Within the frameworks of the given project it is planned to develop innovative university model which can be introduced in all universities of Ukraine, especially in UzhNU.

The project involves the development of innovative university activity instruction and catalogue of ideas. The partners are the University of Rzeszow (Poland), the University of Debrecen (Hungary), Technical University of Kosice (Slovakia) and NGO "Institute of cross-border cooperation" (Uzhhorod, Ukraine).

 The project was prepared by the Educational Scientific Institute of European Integration Studies of UzhNU (headed by Associate Professor Ivan Artyomov). Project presentation took place on November,24 with the participation of the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka, director of the ESI of European Integration Studies Ivan Artyomov, Head of the Department of Applied Physics Ihor Studenyak, Director of the SRI of analytical technology tools Yosyp Holovach, a leading specialist of the ESI of European Integration Studies Alina Ghus’, Director of the NGO "Institute of cross-border cooperation" Dmytro Miroshnikov and acting chief accountant of UzhNU Ruslana Vovchanska.

 The project is very important since it is based on one of the mechanisms laid down in the new law of Ukraine "On higher education". The problem of innovative university reflects the problems dealt with by the research university, science park and technology park, because it concerns the creation of the concept of activity of such a unit. Volodymyr Smolanka believes that its creation is one of the most important ways of university development.

ESI of European Integration Studies, as one of the units involved in the given project implementation, has a lot of experience in project activities. In 2007- 2013 the Institute executed 4 projects. Today ESI of European Integration Studies is working on the implementation of the project "Borders through the eyes of people".

Ivan Artyomov who moderated the presentation meeting, noted that they wouldn’t have won the project “Innovative university as a tool of integration with the European education and research area" without cooperation with Ihor Studenyak, Yosyp Holovach and others.

"Innovative product is a student with new knowledge, and technical product that can be sold. Therefore, all faculties will be involved in this project. Its goal is to create a model of innovative university, which can be offered to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The geographical position allows Uzhhorod to cooperate with our European neighbors and borrow their experience" - informed Ihor Studenyak.

The work on the draft project lasted about 3 years. Yosyp Holovach noted that over this period many projects that are now being realized with the participation of different faculties of UzhNU were developed. The Science Park, which is a prerequisite to the introduction of innovations, will be opened within the framework of the project "Innovative university as a tool of integration with the European education and research area”.

Director of the NGO "Institute of cross-border cooperation" Dmytro Miroshnikov is convinced that the project will be of interest primarily because it will help to borrow foreign universities’ experience, particularly, the ones from Visegrad countries. His colleague Alina Ghus’ believes that one of the most important tasks is to use foreign experience of commercialization and develop our own mechanisms, because this is what Ukrainian universities feel the lack of today. Therefore, the idea of the project is to establish mechanisms for cooperation of the university and business.

Target groups of the project:

regional media;

students of higher educational institutions of the border regions of Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Ukraine;

NGOs operating in the field of cross-border cooperation and tourism, environmental protection, economic and social development;

legal entities and individuals, whose professional activity is related to the problems of development, manufacturing and use of certain designs of innovative products;

academic and research institutions of the Visegrad countries interested in intensifying cooperation in the field of innovation;

deputies of the regional and district councils, employees of state administrations and executive bodies of local self-government, whose professional activity is related to the problems of sustainable socio-economic development of the region.

The next organizational meeting will be held with the participation of experts from abroad.
