When, if not today, do we realise the value of knowing a foreign language, because in the modern world, knowledge of English is a necessity, a basic skill that every modern person should have. It is not for nothing that they say that to know a language is to learn it for life. So, following this slogan, representatives of Uzhhorod National University have been improving their English for three months with the support of the University of Central Lancashire in the UK. The three months were filled with motivation and inspiration to improve their language skills. Thanks to the teacher Ioanna Giotta, the most difficult grammatical topics were explained and understood, vocabulary was enriched, and most importantly, the language barrier was overcome with her help.

Oleksandra Reho, assistant of the Department of Social Medicine and Hygiene, notes: "The opportunity to take part in the English language courses organised with the support of the University of Central Lancashire was incredibly valuable for me, I felt a significant progress in my language skills and more confidence in the process of communication. The courses were structured in such a way that each lesson contributed to the enrichment of vocabulary and understanding of grammatical nuances, which is a very good combination in the process of language learning and will definitely help me in the future in preparing for language exams. I especially liked the interactive exercises that helped me practice my language skills in real-life situations with colleagues, which is critical for effective communication and significantly improves the level of communication skills. And the topics on which we learnt new words and had discussions were always interesting, relevant and combined "everyday" topics and something extraordinary that we might not even remember in the course of our daily communication.

The course lecturer was very professional in her approach to teaching and was always ready to help and answer any questions. Thanks to her support, sincerity, kindness and teaching methods, my confidence in using English has grown significantly. This experience has not only improved my language skills, but also broadened my understanding of the cultural aspects of a language, which is an integral part of language learning. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this programme and look forward to applying my new knowledge in the future."

Krystyna Chervenyak, a lecturer at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Uzhhorod National University, PhD in Political Science, is enthusiastic about her experience: "This is the second time I have taken part in English language courses with the support of the University of Central Lancashire. Speaking is probably the most difficult for me, and these courses have given me the opportunity to improve it. Because in a situation where the teacher doesn't speak Ukrainian, you have to find a way to get through and somehow convey your thoughts on the topic. This is an extraordinary experience for me personally, because I have never had the opportunity to communicate with native speakers for such a long period of time. In addition, the teacher is a very nice lady and professional who tried to make each of our lessons not only useful but also interesting. I am very grateful for this opportunity! If something similar is organised in the future, I will definitely take part."

Associate Professor of the Department of International Studies and Public Communications, Director of the Resource Centre for Sustainable Development of UzhNU Hanna Melehanych speaks of the English language courses with special warmth: "I am sincerely grateful to the management of UzhNU and our foreign partners for the opportunity to learn English with native speakers for free. It is invaluable and very important in today's world. Personally, I have different experience of learning the language and I really like the approach of my colleagues from the UK. In addition, in today's globalised world and in the scientific space, without knowledge of English, new discoveries and projects will not be recognised and disseminated if they are not communicated to the public in English. So once again, I am glad that we have this opportunity and I will be happy to continue to join the classes."

Oksana Kanyuka, 4th year student of the Faculty of Foreign Philology, says: "Once again, I would like to sincerely thank the University of Central Lancashire for this wonderful opportunity, which opened the way not only to improve English, but also to self-discovery, because in 3 months each participant was able to understand which method of learning the material suits him or her best, each participant was able to socialise in the English-speaking environment and discover his or her "I" from a different, previously unknown side".

This training was an important step towards improving the professional skills of university staff and contributed to their personal development. Course participants noted that such initiatives not only strengthen their competence but also promote international cooperation and cultural exchange. Undoubtedly, the knowledge and experience gained will become important tools in the further professional activity and personal growth of each participant.
