Danube Region Rectors' Conference 2024

Danube Region Rectors' Conference 2024

This year, from November 13 to 15, the Danube Region Rectors' Conference was held at the Danube University of Continuing Education Krems in Austria. Uzhhorod National University also joined the event, as it has been a member of this association since 2015. The Rector Volodymyr Smolanka actively participates in the systematic Conferences of Rectors of the Danube Region as a representative of the Standing Committee.

The annual conferences serve as a platform for discussing current issues and challenges facing higher education institutions. The main topics of discussion include the introduction of innovations, internationalization, and the development of science at universities. They will also discuss the implementation of international projects, the creation of joint educational programs, including master's programs, and the search for ways to deepen cooperation between educational institutions. The Rectors' Conference is also intended to develop cooperation on issues of common interest and thus contribute to the stability and development of an open and democratic society in the Danube Region.

This year, the focus is on analyzing the numerous crises that have affected universities in the Danube Region, namely political, economic, environmental and health crises. Another important component of the meeting is the discussion of adaptive strategies and innovative approaches that allow universities to find solutions and seize new opportunities.

In addition, the Danubius Awards were presented during the conference on November 14. The awards recognize outstanding researchers and young scientists who have made a significant contribution to scientific and social progress in the Danube Region.

During such meetings, universities can exchange experiences and contribute to the development of more efficient, sustainable and adaptive higher education systems in the Danube Region.
